Workspaces
A workspace is the context Licentio scopes your view to. There are two kinds:
- Independent — your own licensure. Your pathway, the hours you log, your supervisors, your credential, your reports. Everything else in these docs describes this workspace unless it says otherwise.
- An organization — a workspace named for the clinic, agency, or program you belong to. What you see there depends on your role: a Director sees the whole team; an associate or supervisor sees their own licensure and supervision pages, with the organization's dashboard and reports around them.
You can hold any combination: Independent only (the common case), Independent plus one or more organizations, or organizations only. Your data doesn't split across them. There is one record of your hours, one pathway, one credential; a workspace changes what's in front of you, not what you own.
Your own pages inside an organization
An organization workspace is self-contained. If you're an associate or a supervisor there, the sidebar carries your own surfaces alongside the organization's, and you never need to switch to Independent to do your work:
- Practice — Dashboard, Log hours, My events, My progress, Validation, Pathway, and Supervisors (the people who supervise you).
- Supervision (if you supervise) — Supervisees, Approvals, Weekly sign-off, and Credentials.
- Records — Requirements, Imports, Export, and Past licensure once you have one.
- Organization — Reports, plus the organization pages your role grants.
These are the same pages you'd see in the Independent workspace, showing the same record. Hours you log on Log hours in an organization are your hours, not the organization's; Supervisees lists everyone you supervise, not only the people connected through that organization. Everything in these docs about logging, progress, validation, supervision, approvals, credentials, and reports applies wherever you're standing. Two labels differ so they don't collide with the organization-wide pages: your own ledger is My events and your own standing is My progress, while Events and Progress in the Organization section are the team-wide views that Directors and Managers see.
Switch workspaces
Open the account menu (your initials, top right). The line under your name shows where you are now: Independent or the organization's name. If you belong to more than one workspace, the first menu row shows the current one and opens a Switch to list of the others. Pick one and Licentio takes you to that workspace's dashboard.
Switching changes the sidebar and the URL. Organization pages live under
/org/<web-address>/… (your own pages inside it under
/org/<web-address>/my/…), and the Independent workspace under /ind/….
Account pages such as Settings are shared and open from either.
If you belong to exactly one workspace, there's no switcher; you're always in it.
Manage your workspaces
From the account menu, select Settings, then the Workspaces tile. The page shows:
- Turn on Independent — appears only if you don't have an Independent workspace yet, which happens when you joined Licentio through an organization invitation or created an organization before anything else. Select Turn on Independent to add it. You don't need it to work inside an organization; it gives your own record a home that doesn't depend on any membership, which matters if you ever leave your only organization.
- Start an organization — select Create an organization to set up a new organization workspace. See Create your organization.
- Your memberships — every organization you belong to, with your role and when you joined, and a Leave button on each row.
Leave an organization
Select Leave on the membership. Licentio confirms with Leave organization? and spells out what happens: you lose access to that organization right away; your own licensure record stays on your account; your hours, pathway, and documents go with you; the organization keeps access to the supervision work you did while you were a member, and anything dated after today stays private to you. Select Leave organization to confirm.
Any member can leave. The one exception: if you're the organization's only Director, the button is disabled with You're the only Director. Give someone else the Director role before you leave.
Gotchas
- Leaving is immediate and needs a new invitation to undo. Once you leave, the organization drops out of your switcher and its pages return "Page not found." To rejoin, someone with the Members page has to invite you again.
- Old links still work. A link to an Independent page (from an older email, say) opens the matching page in your organization workspace if you don't have an Independent one.
- Workplaces is not Workspaces. The Workplaces item under Account is where an associate records employers for the BBS Experience Verification. It has nothing to do with organization membership.
FAQ
I joined through my agency's invitation. Where do I log hours? Right there: Log hours in the organization sidebar. If your pathway isn't set up yet, open Pathway and select Add your registration first. Your organization can see the hours you log through the supervision it has connected. See Joining an organization.
Does switching workspaces change my data? No. It changes your view. Hours you log are yours wherever you're standing when you log them.
Why don't I see a switcher? You belong to only one workspace. It appears once you have two or more.
Can I turn Independent back off? Not from the app today. If you need that, contact support@licent.io.
