Getting your hours signed off

See how logged hours move from awaiting review to verified, and how final sign-off works.

Logging an hour records it. It doesn't yet count. Hours count toward licensure once your supervisor reviews and approves them, and are locked into your record when your supervisor gives the final BBS attestation. This page covers both.

From logged to verified

Every event you log starts as Awaiting review. Your supervisor sees it and either approves or rejects it:

  • Approved — the hours become verified and count toward your totals. Your progress shows verified hours climbing toward your requirement.
  • Rejected — your supervisor includes a reason. The event comes back to you to edit and resubmit. Fix what they flagged and it returns to their queue.

Your supervisor can act on hours inside Licentio or straight from the email notification, so approvals don't have to wait for them to sign in. See Approving and signing from email.

Final sign-off and verification

Approving individual events keeps your record current as you go. At the end of a placement, or when you need your record formally verified, your supervisor completes a BBS-required attestation — confirming, under penalty of perjury, that they supervised the hours and that the record is accurate. Licentio emails them a secure link to complete it, and the signed record is archived to your account for your licensure submission.

Ending a relationship from your Supervisors page is what starts the end-of-relationship sign-off.

Gotchas

Verified is what counts, not logged. A pile of logged-but-unapproved hours can make your progress look further along than it is. Keep events moving through review rather than letting "Awaiting review" accumulate.
  • Get sign-off on schedule, not in bulk. Treat the end of each supervision period like closing the books. If a supervisor becomes unavailable before signing, unsigned periods are difficult to resolve.
  • A rejection is a to-do, not a dead end. Read the reason, edit the event, and resubmit. Ignored rejections are hours that never count.
  • Don't wait until application time to verify. Chasing signatures for years of hours at the end is how associates lose weeks. Verify as you go.

FAQ

How does my supervisor approve my hours? From their own Licentio review queue, or directly from the email Licentio sends them when you log hours under them. Either way, approval flips your hours to verified.

My event was rejected. What do I do? Open it, read your supervisor's reason, make the correction, and resubmit. It goes back into their review queue.

What's the difference between approval and the final sign-off? Approval clears individual events as you log them. The final sign-off is the BBS-required attestation your supervisor makes — typically when a relationship ends — that certifies the whole record.

My supervisor left before signing my hours. Mark them as deceased or unavailable from your Supervisors page. Reach out to support@licent.io if you need help documenting hours a former supervisor can no longer verify.
