FAQ
The questions associates and supervisors ask most, answered in one place. Many pages carry their own FAQ for the task at hand; this collects the broader ones.
About Licentio
What does Licentio do? It tracks your supervised experience against California BBS requirements, validates each hour as you log it, and generates the board-ready log you submit when you apply for licensure.
Which licenses does it support? The California BBS associate pathways: LCSW (from ASW), LMFT (from AMFT), and LPCC (from APCC).
Does Licentio file anything with the BBS for me? No. Licentio keeps your record accurate and produces the documents, but you submit them to the board yourself. Checking off coursework or a registration in Licentio is your own record-keeping, not a filing.
Does Licentio decide whether my hours qualify? It applies your pathway's BBS rules and tells you where you stand. The BBS makes the final determination on your application. Licentio's job is to make sure there are no surprises when they do.
Hours and compliance
What's the difference between logged and verified hours? Logged hours are everything you've recorded. Verified hours are the ones your supervisor has approved. Only verified hours count toward licensure and appear on your board-ready log.
Why doesn't every hour I log count? Usually a weekly supervision rule, a pending approval, or a category cap. Your Validation page names the exact reason for each.
Do hours I earned before my associate number was issued count? They can, under the BBS 90-day rule, if your application-received and Live Scan dates are on file. See Your pathway.
Why are my requirements different from a colleague's? Requirements depend on your license type and your degree vintage. Graduating before or after January 1, 2020 (AB 93) changes the rules that apply to you.
Supervisors
Does Licentio confirm my supervisor is eligible to supervise? No. Supervisor credentials are self-attested, and a license alone doesn't establish supervisor eligibility. You're responsible for confirming your own eligibility and that of any supervisor you work with. See Your credential.
Can I have more than one supervisor? Yes. Add each supervisor you work under and attribute events to the right one as you log. This matters for concurrent placements.
My supervisor isn't on Licentio. Can I still track their hours? Yes. Invite them by email, or log hours against them "by name." Those hours stay pending until the supervisor is connected and verifies them.
Your account and data
Who can see the hours I log? The supervisor you attribute an event to can see and review that event. You can export a full copy of your own data any time from Settings.
What happens to my record if I delete my account? Your sign-in and subscription are removed, but your event log stays available to anyone who supervised you, so their licensure records aren't broken. Export your data first if you may need it.
How much does Licentio cost? You start with a free trial, then choose monthly or annual billing. Current prices are shown in the app when you start your trial. See Your trial and subscription.
What happens when I get licensed? Congratulations. Your record moves to Past licensure, where you can download your board log and an achievement card any time.
